Abandoned 1960s $16 Million Dollar Mansion With Lots of Things Left Behind!!

Edit: So I just found out that the flag found inside the home that is very similar to the Syrian flag is actually the flag for the Syrian National Coalition, who as far as I understand were created in the wake of opposition to the Syrian government in 2011/12. Thanks to one of my watchers, Michael who mentioned that!

I was not able to find very much information about this property on my own but fortunately a few other explorers were able to dig up some clues as to why this house was sitting abandoned. In 2016, this very large sprawling property (30 acres) was sold to a development corporation for over $16,000,000, the neighbouring properties to the east were also purchased to make for a very large parcel of land. There is now a development proposal in the works that would see luxury homes being built starting at $2 Million!! This house which was built in 1967, as well as the neighbouring home, were demolished earlier this year and unfortunately the lots were also almost completely cleared of their large old growth trees!!

This is where the story starts to get interesting. You my followers know that I try to respond to most if not all of the comments I get on social media and one of the recurring themes I see in the comments is, "What about the homeless or less fortunate, why is this house sitting empty?". This home is one of the few exceptions where after it was vacated, it did not sit empty until closer to the demolition. In 2016, not long after the home had sold, the new owners decided that they would donate the use of the space to a refugee family from Syria! As the story goes, a small group of local residents joined forces to help bring the family here to Canada and settle into their new home. Once the Syrian family arrived, the residents again helped out by donating furniture, belongings and even helped to pay for their monthly bills. The family was able to live in this home for approximately 2 years until it was abandoned in 2018!
