Public sick of 'corporate hypocrisy'
The public is sick of major firms engaging in “blatant corporate hypocrisy” when it comes to their support of coal, according to Sky News contributor Campbell Newman.
US insurer Liberty Mutual has defended its decision to go ahead with the developments of Queensland coal mine that is wholly owned by its subsidiary Liberty Metals and Mining Holdings.
That is despite the company recently revealing it has long-term plans to engage in decarbonisation and investment more in renewable energy.
Mr Newman told Sky News host Alan Jones the public do not like hypocrisy.
“This is the nonsense being played out globally,” he said.
“Top corporates saying one thing, doing another, trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
"They need to be upfront about what they are doing, there will be a need for coal for a long time to come.”
