Model Trains 202 - Marklin Z gauge. Trialling a Marklin DB BR89 loco on 3% grade on a layout concept

Firstly an apology for the sound on this video. I appear to be having an issue with the phone camera, and given the size of the trains, the phone is the easiest camera to use at this size currently.

I also have misplaced my track cleaning rubber hence some of the trains are running a little faster than I want to so as to not stall on the points. So please bear that in mind. The loco does run nice slowly too when the track is clean

This is a concept layout, in rough planning stages with a design in my head, and what this video shows is what can go around the figure of 8 museum (heritage) railway with a 3% grade on a tight curve (also I have run the town out of expanded polystyrene cement lol)

The DB BR 89 steam loco is from the Marklin 81701 Z scale Starter set, along with the wagons from the set and a few extras.

The concept appears to be working nicely. Along the front I will have a modern (ish) main line with a grand station for holiday makers to arrive at with a bit of protection from the weather in the form of an overall roof.

I’m thinking a winter snowy theme for this layout as I have never done that scenic before.

Obviously a bit smaller than the O gauge stuff but I think the quality of this Marklin stuff is brilliant.
