In 1939 the Mexico of Lázaro Cárdenas welcomed 25,000 Spanish refugees fleeing from a burning country after the Civil War.
Love, heartbreak and exile rescue the emotional side of these young people.

En 1939 el México de Lázaro Cárdenas acogió a 25.000 refugiados españoles que huían de un país en llamas, después de la Guerra Civil.
Amor, desamor y exilio rescata el lado emocional de estos jóvenes, que consiguieron salvar sus vidas sometiéndose a un destino imprevisto y pagando un alto precio: la ruptura con su país de origen, con sus familias y, en algún caso, el reencuentro.
Amores rotos, amores recuperados, nuevas parejas que nacieron dejando atrás a la persona amada….Las guerras arrebatan todo tipo de cosas y en, muchos casos, el amor.
Mientras Europa languidecía, a causa de la Guerra Civil Española y de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, América resplandecía.
México, país con grandes posibilidades en aquel momento y epicentro de los años dorados, fue el escenario de estas vidas rotas, que lograron reinventarse y recibió, con respeto y afecto, a los españoles republicanos que huían de la Guerra Civil Española. Ese respeto fue mutuo y produjo un rico intercambio entre las dos culturas.
A través de los recuerdos de los descendientes de aquellos jóvenes republicanos rescataremos cuatro historias de vida de hombres y mujeres, que escaparon a América para reinventarse.

Stories of love, heartbreak and exile

In 1939 President Lázaro Cardenas Mexico welcomes 25,000 Spanish refugees fleeing from a country in flames, after the Civil War.
While Europe languished because of the Spanish Civil War and World War II, America shone.
Mexico, a country with great potential at that time and the epicentre of the golden years, was the scene of these broken lives which managed to reinvent and received with respect and affection the Spanish Republicans fleeing from Spanish Civil War. That mutual respect produced a rich exchange between both cultures.
Love, heartbreak and exile rescue the emotional side of these young people, who managed to save their lives by submitting to an unexpected destination and paying a high price: the breakdown with their country, with their families and, in some cases, the reencounter.
Broken loves, recovered loves, newborn couples leaving behind loved one ... .The war snatches all kinds of things and in many cases, love.
Through the memories of the descendants of those young republicans, we will rescue four life stories of men and women, who escaped to America to reinvent themselves.
