In this interview, I will be speaking with Richard Heindberg. Richard is one of the reasons Michelle and I left the oil patch. After reading The Party is Over and Powerdown we decided to learn everything we could about renewable energy and permaculture by travelling the world and re-tooling our engineering careers. The result was Verge Permaculture.
In this interview, we will be talking about the mechanics of how the economy works, why it needs growth and why growth needs resources. We will talk about what happens when we remove those resources when everyone and everything is maxed to the hilt with debt and the inevitable repercussions that ensue. This topic is important for individuals but also policymakers so that they can adjust the levers of the machine accordingly before they are forced to.
