Energy Metabolism - Part 5: Beta-oxidation Reactions

The cleavage of acyl-CoA into acetyl-CoA occurs in four reaction steps: After the initial oxidation of the bond between C2 and C3, hydration takes place. Subsequently, the beta-C atom is further oxidized. The final step involves cleavage of the molecule by thiolysis.
