Cades Cove Full Ride

Cades Cove is an 11 mile one way loop located in the Great Smoky Mountains near Townsend, TN. Normally it is open to both vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, but on Wednesdays (at least summer of 2020) it is closed to vehicle traffic allowing only hikers and bikers. Even so, you will want to arrive before 7am to get decent parking and ride around once without the crowds on the trail.

We rode around three times this trip, but the video was shot on the first round, hence the low light in some scenes. If you watched my previous abbreviated video, you will notice the clouds were mostly gone and the beautiful blue skies shining bright. That is how quickly the weather can change in the Cove. Misty fog and clouds early and then clear for your second + rounds.

You will notice a lot of riders walking their bikes up the grades and invariably stop just at the top of the hills, so caution is always advised in those congested areas.

Make sure to take your camera to capture the splendor of the mountain vistas, wildlife and whatever catches your fancy.
