This walk shows the beautiful Volksgarten in the morning. This park has a very beautiful rose garden in the middle of the city. The Volksgarten is located on an area that used to be primarily fortresses. From 1596 to 1597 a curtain was built on the eastern side of today's park, on the southern side in 1639 the castle jump. This was blown up by the French in 1809 and later removed. Due to the construction of the Hornwerkskurtine from 1817 to 1821 on the side of today's Ringstrasse, the area came to lie within the city. A park was created in it, which was originally intended as a private garden for the archdukes, but at the suggestion of the court garden administration, the first publicly accessible park owned by the court and opened on March 1, 1823. From 1825, the term Volksgarten was used.
