Spanish Mastiff is livestock guardian dog dated back from Antiquity . These dog were spread from Balkan to Iberian peninsula and they work as shepherd dog . They are large dog with powerful structure able to fight against wolf and other predators to protect the livestock . in many areas of Spain these shepherd dog have different names . but the official name is Spanish mastiff . The modern Spanish mastiff is mix dog created by foundation stock breeds : like st bernard , English mastiff , aboriginal Spanish shepherd etc. Heavy dog rare use in livestock because of lack of performance . The shepherd use the old mastin which are not standart and they are more close to old sheepdog .
