Karen Read’s murder retrial set to begin with opening statements

Karen Read is set to return to court Tuesday for the start of opening statements in her second murder trial in the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend, John O’Keefe. The first trial ended with the jury deadlocked after the defense argued Read was framed by law enforcement, a claim that spawned legions of devoted supporters and true crime fans.
