Thoreau for Kids: Tour of Concord Houses

A from-the-street tour of some notable houses in Concord, Massachusetts: Thoreau Farm, the birthplace of Henry David Thoreau; The Wayside, one-time home of the Alcotts and Hawthornes; Orchard House, later home of the Alcotts; the Concord School of Philosophy; the Emerson House; and the Concord Museum. Led by Corinne H. Smith, Concord tour guide and author of "Henry David Thoreau for Kids" and "Westward I Go Free: Tracing Thoreau's Last Journey." [Alcott fans should note that Corinne calls third daughter Elizabeth Sewall Alcott "Beth" -- not in mistaking the sister for her "Little Women" character, but instead by consulting several references that used this nickname instead of the more commonly accepted "Lizzie."] To answer the final question, send your e-mail response to thoreauforkids@gmail.com. You will receive in return a PDF of a journal that includes nature observations and prompts from Thoreau, suitable for use by all ages. Please don't spoil the fun by revealing the answer here as a comment. Thanks for watching!
