Live [and absolutely kicking some arse here] from the 'Blues on Broadbeach' long-weekend rain-fest, La Niña, Australia... Sunday the 22nd of May, 2022.

It'd been long since 1995 when I last saw Robben play as a mind-blown 15 year old, so I wasn't not gonna head-out and hope for the weather to abate.. Not too much of it made much sense to my ear back then, but the visceral impact was yeah, of course... I can remember Roscoe absolutely smashing; but yeah, whatever: I digress...

This is pretty much how it was and sounded to my ear under my umbrella; standin' in the mud; struggling to maintain a shot while tappin' a foot and tryin' to not piss my neighbours off too much... The sax may have lost a little, substance, and may be a little toppier here if I'm trying to remain objective, but yeah, I like the guitar where it is, so that's where it's gonna stay, but yeah: I gotta say that dude sounded fucking gorgeous...

Not having researched the gig beyond "holy shit Robben coming to play just 15 minutes up the road" I'd seen Andy on the Scofield Uberjam set, so yeah: I gotta admit I hada-little fan-boy-flutter when I saw him limbering up around the bass cab.. hahaa Yes!
