Top Indoor Cycling Bike Options | Peloton Alternatives & Competitors $150 - $2,000 Range

Today's video features my Top 10 Indoor Cycling Bike Options, divided into three categories: 1) Peloton competitors, 2) Budget Alternatives, and 3) Air Bike Options. For a bit of background on myself - I've owned the Peloton for a little over 4 months so far and have filmed various videos on my thoughts/opinions on the bike, weight loss results, and current events surrounding Peloton and the indoor cycling space. When shopping for the Peloton, I did little to consider the alternatives and competition and rather chose a brand I personally felt comfortable purchasing. ▶ Resistance types

Magnetic: more expensive compared to friction resistance bike because they cost more to produce and have more ‘perceived benefits’ such as being quieter and low maintenance

Friction: resistance applied to flywheel with strong cotton felt pads. When resistance crank is turned up, they pull a wire and compress the cotton pads. This creates a soft “whooshing” noise, whereas the magnetics are mostly silent

▶ Driver Types

- Chain: just like outdoor bikes, they also require regular maintenance to keep it running smooth
- Belt: smoother, quieter, however the belt can wear down and stretch which leads it to being replaced
- Hybrid: Schwinn created a hybrid option with their Carbon Blue technology - a belt drive system that performs and feels like a chain. The belt has teeth like notches for strength and durability

▶ Indoor Cycling vs. Upright Exercise Bike

Indoor Cycling: have weighted flywheel which is connected to the pedals through a transmission system that closely resembles that of a real bike

Upright exercise: use electromagnetic induction to create resistance and magnets are used to slow down the rotation of flywheel. Tend to have wider, well-padded seats

▶ Air Bike vs. Non-air
- Air bike: provides full body workout because your upper body is worked through the push and pull of the handlebars, while your legs are challenged by the fan. The faster your arms move, the more resistance is created for your legs by the fans
