How can NLB be used to improve the availability and fault tolerance of applications?

To improve the availability and fault tolerance of your application using a Network Load Balancer (NLB), you should deploy your application across multiple Availability Zones (AZs) within a VPC in a specific AWS region. This setup ensures that if one AZ fails, traffic can be rerouted to healthy instances in other zones. You’ll place EC2 instances in each AZ with the right networking configurations and then launch an NLB in front of them. The NLB should be configured with cross-zone load balancing enabled and target groups that include the EC2 instances. Health checks (typically TCP-based for NLB) must be enabled to monitor instance health. Although NLBs don’t support security groups like ALBs, security should be enforced at the instance or application level. This architecture provides a highly available and resilient environment, similar to what can be achieved with an Application Load Balancer (ALB).
