Romanian eBay 'car-buying' scammers - be careful when selling your car.

They arrive mess up car's whole system in order to devalue it and then beating down the price. Some guys, who told me they were Romanians, came today and said they wanted to view and buy the car I put on ebay if they liked it. Apparently they were father and two sons, one 'son' a young man of about 25 and other a boy of about 16 - although somewhat small for the age. They arrived, first viewing the body of the car. I offered to open to the hood for them so they could view the engine, which was running fine - no fault lights on the dashboard.
After they'd checked the engine, the older son said he wanted to test drive the car. I insisted I would go with him while others waited. But as he started the car almost all the fault lights on the dashboard came on. This was a surprise. I just drove the car some 30 minutes or so before and everything was fine. Again, we went back to the engine to give it another look and then we found the radiator tank was full of black oil - pure bilge. And the exhaust also had black oil. Now there was total bewilderment, my inner mind was telling me something was off but I couldn't put my finger to anything.
I was looking to sell my car on eBay but the guys first said they would pay £750.00. I told them to leave, but then the haggling began. They certainly thought I was playing too hard to get, but after 30 minutes of trying to wear me out, we settled for £1,350 - in other words, they still managed to short-change me a thousand pounds.
After they left, I couldn't stop thinking the guys were up to something - but talk about being wise after the event. Anyway, I went online and I saw a report in the Sun about some guys trying to pull off off a scam: a little boy squeezes oil in the radiator tank and the exhaust and messes everything up.
Then I quickly went to check my CCTV and could see how they carried out the scam: The boy putting oil in the rad coolant tank, covered by the older 'son' and the 'dad' helping with the diversion by keeping me busy with hot air.
