THE Oatman Family Massacre--March 1851
The Oatman Massacre was one of the most newsworthy national events of the 19th century. Indians attacked the Oatmans, murdered the mother, father, and four of the children, left Lorenzo, 15 for dead, and took Olive 14, and Mary Ann, 7, into captivity. Through the efforts of Lorenzo who survived, Olive was rescued five years later. Mary Ann died while in captivity. Olive eventually married and went on the lecture circuit. Her story reads like fiction, and several books have been published on her ordeal. Come ride with us in the Arizona desert and see the last things the Oatmans saw at the end of their lives. Video'd on two different days in April 2019.
