Inflatable pontoon fishing - one dozen largemouth on a Tuesday after work

Had perfect weather for after-work fishing, and was on the water by 5:15pm or so. Caught four largemouth bass right away, fishing a Ned Rig using a Z-Man TRD Crawz on a 1/16oz mushroom head jig.
Continued catching bass on that setup until one swallowed the hook and I had to cut the line in order to make the hook removal easier.
Not wanting to spend time re-tying a new fluorocarbon leader to my braid main line, I switched to a short baitcaster setup, with a Lews Speed Spool Laser on an Ugly Stick baitcaster rod. For bait, I used another Ned Rig setup, with a Z-Man Turbo Crawz in Green Pumpkin, on a larger/heavier mushroom head jig with a weed guard wire. Caught several more bass with that setup.
Near sundown, the wind completely stopped and the lake got that nice glass top, where I could see and hear topwater explosions in the middle of the lake. Wipers and largemouth were chasing shad balls and pinning them at the top of the water column, then feasting on them. I tried trolling for them, and hooked into a few, but could never get them in the boat. They threw my heavy swimbait pretty easily.
All in all it was a great night - love it when the weather is tailor-made for fishing.
