Pike Fishing Weekender / Cold weather testing the R3 Fox Bedchair & sleeping bag, Vlog no 96

This session was on the mighty Upper Lough Erne at Derravore not a million miles from the church where you have seen me fish from a few times this season. Early on I had to pay some stupid tax id left the Delkim Alarms on since the last outing so both batteries were dead and when I swapped out the old for new on one of the alarms it decided to not come back to life so it will be posted to Delkim to be repaired.

So that’s Rod eyes I've smashed, a GoPro camera and now a bite alarm. This winter has definitely been a test of the fishing equipment! I also managed to road test the Ridgemonkey bivvy loo thing and well it wasn’t as comfortable as the thrown in the thunderoom at home it served its purpose bombs were dropped and it was way easier than finding a bush to leave a surprise behind.

The temps bottomed out about -6oc on Saturday night inside the sleeping bag I was comfortable and warm my face definitely felt the cold, the Bivvy was put up in the carpark and as there was no wind it was more a standing on its own sort of thing I've no doubt on a different location with the bivvy properly pegged down and the overwrap on it too the bivvy would be a warmer place to sleep I have to admit I cannot fault the Fox R3 Bedchair or sleeping bag the one thing I have done is purchase a fox bedchair throw thing to go over the top of the bedchair turning it into a 5 season sleep system. The only gripe I have with this bedchair is that Fox don’t do a bedchair bag for it so I am in the process of looking for a bedchair bag, if any of you know a make of bedchair bag that fits the R3 then please let me know.

I have also opened a Ko-Fi page for you crazy people who want to send me a few pennies to buy me a pint or a coffee. I am seriously blown away that folk like and comment on the vlogs but to have folk reach out and send me a few quid its something I don’t expect anyone to do but to those who have thank you.

Pike Fishing Tackle, this is a small run down of where I get my Pike Fishing Equipment. If you see me using something and the description isn’t here, then ask me and I’ll let you know.

The Rods for bait fishing I use are BB350 12’ 3.5lb tc & D-3 13’ 4lb tc these are made by Dave Lumb of DLST http://www.dlst.co.uk/index.html Mr Lumb is a artist when it comes to building fishing rods if you’re in the market for a rod built to your own desires then Dave is your man.

The Drop Arms I use are made by Pete Foster trust me these are the bog dangly bits as Pike Fishing Drop Arms go

If you want a set of them then quote code DSAA when you order them from Pete and you will get free postage & packing.

Here’s a link to where you can get them from:-

www.advancedpredprod.weebly.com Facebook Page:- https://www.facebook.com/Advanced-Predator-Products-110199180514261/

Reels I tend to stick with Shimano Reels as I trust them, I use a few different models of Shimano Reel for Pike fishing from Big Pits to Bait Runners.
I get my bait oils, AFW Bleeding Leader Wire and terminal tackle from Eddie Turner https://www.eddieturner.co.uk/ Eddies Oil is simply the best there’s nothing that comes close to it in my humble opinion. He’s also a great font of knowledge and published author I have lost count of the times I’ve annoyed him for ideas on rigs and how best to fish certain locations.

I use happily recommend two Dead Bait bait companies one is Nev Fickling’s Lucebait’s http://www.thetackle-shop.co.uk/section66/Frozen-Fish.html the other is Scotland’s finest Gadda Baits http://www.gaddabaits.com/ both are excellent.

I happily recommend the tackle shop Fishing Tackle & Bait, https://www.fishingtackleandbait.co.uk/ in Enniskillen Northern Ireland. It’s my local shop it’s the sort of place I can go in and ask if they will order two different types of chair which they did I then picked one and bough it, not only was this not a bother to them they even matched the cheapest internet price for the chair I chose, David and the guys in FTB frequently bend over backwards to go that extra mile to help folk out.
I'm not sponsored by any of the above companies everything I have on the bank with me is something I’ve paid out my own pockets for it.

If you have any specific questions about the fishing tackle I use then feel free to ask me in the comments below this video or you can come on over to my other Social Media Platforms.
