Healthcare workers plead with the public to adhere to COVID-19 lockdown regulations

A number of healthcare workers have been pleading with the public to adhere to COVID-19 lockdown regulations. The aim has been to decrease the rate of the coronavirus infections in the country. Healthcare workers bear first firsthand account of the challenges posed by the pandemic, in intensive care units, in emergency rooms, in general hospital wards and even amongst colleagues. Reports suggest that the new variant offers its own unique challenges, in as far as public and private health care resources are concerned. Doctors are once again pleading with President Cyril Ramaphosa to urgently intervene. To discuss this we are via Skype by President of the South African medical association Dr Angelique Coetzee.
