Tips & Tricks for the Best Results with Meguiar’s Ready to Use Professional Detailing Products.

Now we’ve taken some of these professional products that people have relied upon and put them into a prediluted, ready to use format. In this episode Markus goes through all the nuances of these new products, along with some tips and tricks, so how you can get the best possible results in the least amount of time.

D143 Non-Acid Wheel and Tire Cleaner
As a general best practice, it’s a good idea to start off by cleaning the wheels and tires before washing the rest of the vehicle. Alkaline-based wheel cleaners simplify things by cleaning your wheels and tires with one product at the same time. D143 is ideal for factory OEM painted/clear coated wheels and actual chrome wheels. Not for use on uncoated or aftermarket wheels.

Pre-rinsing the wheel will knock off as much debris as possible and make it safer for the cleaner to dwell on the surface. Use a stiff to medium bristle brush to agitate tires, soft wheel brush to agitate the wheel face, and a specialized brush for between spokes and the barrel of the wheel. Spray D143 liberally to wheel and tire from various angles. After spraying, agitate and thoroughly rinse with a strong stream of water. You may need to repeat multiple times on neglected wheels.

D107 Citrus Power Cleaner Plus
D107 is an extremely versatile all purpose car cleaner that you can use on an array of surfaces for a variety of jobs. It’s pre-diluted at a 4:1 ratio making it safe for applications like upholstery, carpet, rubber floor mats, tires, wheel wells, engine bays and more. Here Markus sprays it on the wheel well and agitates with a specialized brush that allows for a good angle and reach. After scrubbing he rinses off with a strong stream of water.

D2002 Iron Removing Spray “Clay”
This iron remover allows you chemically to get down into the paint and remove iron-based contamination that comes from things like brake pads and industrial fallout. Traditional clay removes above surface contaminants while D2002 chemically goes into the paint and safely remove things that a clay bar may not fully remove.

Spray liberally on the paint on a cool surface and in the shade and let it dwell for 2-3 minutes before spreading and gently agitating with a microfiber wash mitt. As this iron remover for cars reacts with iron particles it goes from clear to purple. Before it dries, rinse off with water and dry with a microfiber drying towel. Take a plastic bag and spray the paint with a detailer or more Iron Removing Spray “Clay”. Run the back over the wet surface to check if the surface is fully decontaminated. Once you’ve removed all contamination, you’re ready for compounding, polishing or waxing.

D170 Hyper Dressing
D170 is a versatile water-based dressing that’s diluted 1:1 making it great for use on wheel wells, engine bays, door panels, vinyl seats, unpainted trim or rubber, tires and more. For taller sidewall tires you can spray this directly onto the tire and spread out evenly with a tire brush. For lower profile tires, you have more control if you spray D170 onto a soft foam applicator spread evenly over the sidewall, let the product dwell for about 5-10 and go back over it with the applicator in case there were any drips or runs to reduce the possibility of slinging the product.
