What is Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR)?

This video displays the full patient process for getting treated with Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). SBRT, also called stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR), is a type of radiation therapy in which a few very high doses of radiation are delivered to small, well-defined tumors. The goal is to deliver a radiation dose that is high enough to kill the cancer while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy organs. Included in this video is the pre-treatment, during treatment and post treatment procedures.

Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) has been used successfully in curing selective early stage cancers, such as lung. It is non-invasive, convenient, with high efficacy and low side effects. Its role in advanced disease and operable cancer is being investigated.
