A TOUR OF GERMAN U-534 | BIRKENHEAD LIVERPOOL

In this short clip, we visit the Birkenhead museum of the German submarine U-534. Built in 1942 for service during World War II, she was built in the town of Hamburg-Finkenwerder. Launched on 23 September 1942 and commissioned on 23 December. She was sunk by a Royal Air Force bomber on 5 May, 1945, in the town of Kattegat, 20 kilometres northeast of the Danish island of Anholt.

Now the German submarine U-534 resides in Birkenhead on full display for all visitors to see, cut into 4 so you can see each part of the U-boat without having to enter her.

The thing that gets me whenever I visit U-534 is the smell, the strongest smell of diesel. Yet if you look closely enough you can spot signs throughout all wrote in German, it's a special piece of history to witness.

Enjoy, THOWWII.
