UNIQUE FILIPINO BOATS on ACTIVE VOLCANO CRATER LAKE in MINDANAO (Lake Leonard, Davao)

I'VE BEEN MEANING TO GO to Lake Leonard for a while. It's a crater lake situated inside one of the Philippines' 23 active volcanoes, and the smell of sulphur confirms that. It's just nearby in Maco, Davao de Oro (Compostela Valley) province, and is downright awesome. And they have these GAKITS - bamboo, or PVC for heavy people like me - for paddling around the lake on.

The road here passes through an incredible valley, past the Masara mines, and the Mainit hot spring, an outlet from the lake, before becoming part of the crater rim.

After Lake Leonard, we go to Paloc, the vegetable capital of Davao de Oro, before descending into Maragusan proper, and the Aguakan cold spring. Cold water in a cold place? I don't know either.
