6 for 6 on Oregon Archery Blacktail | 2020 Oregon Late Archery Blacktail

We were blessed with an incredible 2020 Oregon Archery Blacktail Season, filling all 6 of the tags we had in our pocket. It started out opening morning, when Kody's good friend Kyle O'hara made a great shot on his first blacktail. From there, the season was full of close encounters with some great bucks. Wyatt tagged out on a giant blacktail buck, his biggest archery kill to date. After watching large numbers of deer pass underneath his stand, Orin tagged a beautiful 3x4 on the second weekend of the season. After numerous failed encounters due to malfunctioning camera gear, Rhett filled his tag on a three point in the second to last week of season. The next day, Rhett took on filming duties as our dad shot a great 2x3, albeit, the shot was far back, making for a stressful night but ultimately ended in a successful recovery the next morning. Finally, Kody, who had been chasing monster bucks all season, made a great shot on a 4x5 blacktail on the last weekend of season, but the recovery was one of the strangest we've ever experienced. We bumped him out of his bed 3 hours after the initial shot, and Kody was able to put one final arrow in him. Two perfect shots, three hours apart. It was one of our greatest blacktail seasons yet, and we are truly blessed with the success we had this year.
