Killer Plants | Science Discovery Kids

Did you know that some plants have a mouth and eat meat? That's right. One of my favorite meat eating plants is called the Venus flytrap. Even though it looks like it has a mouth, it's not really a mouth. It's actually more like a trap. The way it works is like this. On the inside of the trap, they have special tiny hairs that can sense when something touches it.

When a bug walks across the hairs, it causes the trap to quickly snap shut, capturing the insect inside the edges of the leaves. Seal tightly so the insect can escape. Just like we have stomach acid that breaks down our food so we can digest it. These plants have digestive enzymes which dissolve the insects so the plant can eat it.
