The color of your photo mat can make your photos look very different. Be sure to consider your color selection to help compliment your photographs and also set the mood of your scrapbook layout.

Here are measurements to make your own photo mats with 8.5 x 11 and 12 x 12 paper.

8.5 x 11 paper makes four (4) mats that are 4.25 x 5.5 inches
- On the 8.5 inch side, trim the paper in half at 4.25 inches
- Turn paper and cut the 11 inch side at 5.5 inches
- So that your 4x6 photo will fit on these mats with a 1/8 inch border, reduce the size of your 4x6 photo to 4 x 5.25.

12 /12 paper makes six (6) mats that are 4x6 inches
- First, cut your 12x12 paper in half at the 6 inch mark
- Turn the paper and cut into 4 inch strips
- So that your 4x6 photo will fit on these mats with a 1/8 inch border, cut 1/4 inch from one side and from the top or bottom. (Your new photo dimensions will be 3.75 x 5.75.)
