US has struck several Taliban positions reacting to the insurgents’ blistering advance across Afghanistan. US has targeted one of the Taliban’s key positions in the southern city of Kandahar. The strike has slowed the advancing of the militant group that threatened to take over the city. Meanwhile, Taliban claims that it has captured over 90% of the Border Areas of Afghanistan. The resurgent militants now control about half of Afghanistan's roughly 400 districts.
