Archangel is a VR mech shooter for the Oculus Touch and HTC Vive in where you step into the cockpit of a six-story robot that let’s you feel its might at your command! Take the fight to the enemy with this giant beast while firing badass weapons or smash enemy units with your massive fists. You’ll need quick reflexes to react to flying and ground foes attacking in never-ending wavesso be careful. Your choices could mean the difference between success… and destruction.

Archangel’s concept is great and pretty much overshadows the fact it’s on rails. The mech you control is freaking awesome, lovely hud design in front of you and the world around you is very detailed, the building can use some work tho. Also the sense of scale has been really well done. The way the game presents itself at the start is super epic. You get very excited to step into that giant mech. Being able to move it’s arms with your controllers in the training section is truly a magical moment.

Sadly that’s about it. It doesn’t really get more epic than that. It’s an amazing arcade shooter but doesn’t suprise you much after the intro. The variation in gameplay is simply not there. You unlock a couple of weapons at the start but gets old fast. Upgrading is fun but since the game only takes up 2 hours of your time you can’t really enjoy your upgrades that much. If archangel didn’t had a storyline it would have been a boring wave based shooter for sure.
