Bob Weir tells a story about Joe Strummer and Ron "Pigpen" McKernan.

This interview with Bob Weir of Grateful Dead is part of Jesse Malin's Save Our Stages benefit that celebrated the 68th anniversary of the birth of Joe Strummer.
I knew Joe the last three years of his life and we talked about a lot of bands. I specifically remember our talking about Little Women, the Pietasters, Sugar Skulls, North Mississippi All-Stars, Widespread Panic, Bruce Springsteen, the Strokes, WAR, Siouxsie and the Banshees and lots of others but never Grateful Dead. The band just never came up and I'm surprised it didn't. I wish it had and learned what Bob Weir tells here. I would have loved talking with Joe about Pigpen.

Joe would have loved what Save Our Stages is doing.

Here is the complete A Song For Joe show from August 21, 2020 -what would have been Joe's 68th birthday. He was an extraordinary human being.
