A Romantic's Metaphor: The Dark (Aether's) Heart, round 100 (Standard)
This fight was brutal. The combination of super sprinters, armored and heavy zombies (and super sprinting armored and heavy zombies) combined with tight training spots from an "arena" that clearly wasn't designed with those things in mind results in a high risk, low chance for redemption type gameplay. Needing to rely on exploitable systems like buying ammo every 30 seconds clearly highlights many issues: it's a strategy to run in circles in the form of an "8", but spamming explosives in the hopes of regaining some armor plates isn't necessarily the most enjoyable thing nor a clear cut display of "good game design". Off course, this is an issue of round 100, which this boss wasn't designed around: this is a BO7 wide problem.
Using Rad Hounds in my favor to further weaken the hordes was a good move. Would had been more efficient had I ran double jeopardy; ran double standard in an effort to kill mimics faster with my SG12, and honestly it wasn't a bad play either. What was probably a bad decision was using the Sundergat as my main weapon for boss DPS. Perhaps a good AR like the Voyak would had been a better choice. It would bring the opportunity to have an extra ammo mod to: either dead wire (with lightning strike) for stunning the horde or light mend (with booster shot) to get an additional 100 of health would had helped me a lot. Lessons learned.
I also want to point out the fact that I had no Dying Wishes or Equivalent Exchanges left, as well this being the third time I entered the boss on this same game. The stakes were high but I came through with some luck, good movement, and above all, patience.
Looking forward to the cursed version. Word on the street is that mimics spawn since the first phase. May the Dark Aether gods have mercy upon my soul.
