Van Life - 4 friends, a 31-year-old VW Syncro, and an Off-Road Adventure to Cocaine Flats. Ever since friends invited us over to their VW Westfalia Syncro for sundowners at an overland expo 11 years ago, we've been fascinated by this van. So when our friends Christian and Persephone invited us to join them in their newly renovated VW Syncro for a mini overland trip into the Nevada Desert, it was a no brainer. The mission: An off-road adventure from Truckee, CA in search of a little known spot called Cocaine Flats. The question: Can a 31-year-old VW bus with 334,000 miles make the journey?
