Singapore Defence Minister warns of a 'Black Sea-type blockade' in the South China Sea

Liberal Senator Jim Molan says Singapore Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen has warned that there could be a “Black Sea-type blockade” in the South China Sea.

His remarks come after AEMO urged NSW residents to conserve energy amid tight supply and the energy crisis deepening in Australia.

“If we think this is an emergency, wait until a range of other things, which are coming down the track towards this country,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“It might be an energy crisis at the moment, it might be an industry crisis at the moment, it might be manifesting itself with every Australian on the cost of living, but let’s just look back at what was said in Singapore over the last month.

“The Japanese Prime Minister … said that Ukraine today may be East Asia tomorrow. He’s talking about war with China in our region.”

He said US Indo-Pacific Fleet Commander John Aquilino said at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore that we are in the “most dangerous period since World War II”.
