Introduction to Adverb Clauses 01

An adverb clause is a dependent clause that functions as an adverb. It modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb and provides additional information about time, place, reason, purpose, condition, contrast, manner, or result. An adverb clause contains a subject and a verb and cannot stand alone as a complete sentence. It is usually introduced by a subordinating conjunction such as when, because, if, although, since, while, or where.

Examples:

When the meeting ended, everyone left the room.
She studied hard because she wanted to pass the exam.

Adverb clauses help writers express logical relationships between ideas and create more precise, sophisticated, and coherent sentences.
