What Scares a Tiger: Traditional Korean Folktale

This animated short film is based on one of the most famous and beloved traditional Korean folktales, originally titled "The Tiger and the Dried Persimmon (곶감, Gotgam)."

What could possibly terrify the mighty king of the mountain?

On a cold winter night, a fierce and hungry tiger creeps into a quiet village. Hiding outside a house, he overhears a mother trying to soothe her crying baby. She warns the child, "Stop crying! A wolf will get you! Even a scary tiger is right outside!" but the baby keeps wailing. The tiger is shocked, thinking the child is completely fearless.

But the moment the mother says, "Look, here is a persimmon!" the baby stops crying instantly. The proud tiger is struck with terror, mistaking this unknown 'Persimmon' (dried fruit) for a monstrous beast far more powerful than himself.

Trembling in fear, the tiger hides in the dark cowshed. Just then, an uninvited cow thief sneaks into the dark...

Watch the wildest and most hilarious misunderstanding unfold in the night!
