Spiti Valley Road Trip Shimla to Kaza. How to reach spiti valley in Himachal Pradesh. Experience of staying in homestay in spiti valley. Our whole travel experience is coming in video series. In this first episode we drive all the way from Delhi - Chandigarh - Shimla - Narkand and reached Nako village in Kinnaur district, very close to the Indo China border. Nako has a very old monastery dating back to 11th century (also a newer part built in 2007) and serene sacred lake. The new part of the monastery was built in the year 2007 when 14th Dalai Lama visited Nako and stayed there. He communicated to the people, consoled and enlightened them with his knowledge. We walked through the village, visited the lake and the monastery, got loads of peas from the farms and learnt to make local Puri (deep fried bread) from the kind women in the monastery.

We continued our drive next day and reached Tabo monastery. I was super excited to witness such massive mesmerizing landscapes on our way. Every turn was beautiful and scary too. Next, we reached Kaza village, which is the main sub station in Spiti region of Lahaul and Spiti district. So, there are street markets, cafes, travel agencies, gas station etc. and is relatively commercial.
