This Finally Fixed Our Biggest Truck Camper Towing Problem

This finally fixed our biggest truck camper towing problem.

When we switched from our big toy hauler to our new truck camper and cargo trailer setup, we gained a lot of flexibility — but we lost something really important: our tailgate backup camera and rear view visibility.

In this video, we install the WOLFBOX G900 Pro digital rear view mirror dash cam system on our truck camper and cargo trailer setup. The Wolfbox G900 Pro replaces the factory rear view mirror with a large 12-inch screen, adds a 4K front-facing dash cam, and gives us a hardwired 2.5K rear camera so we can finally see clearly behind us while towing.

Originally, I planned to mount the rear camera on the back of the truck camper, but the cable was too short. After Wolfbox sent a longer cable and extensions, I started routing wire through the camper, removing trim, window valances, and working through wall cavities. It turned into a much bigger project than expected.

Then, while removing our loud Onan 2500 LP generator from the truck camper, I realized we had enough cable to run the rear camera all the way to the back of the cargo trailer — which ended up being a much better location.

So we pivoted.

I routed the Wolfbox rear camera cable along the truck frame, added a disconnect near the hitch, then ran the cable through the cargo trailer roof, down the back corner, out the floor, and along the trailer frame to the tongue. The result is a much better rear view camera setup for towing our truck camper and cargo trailer.

This Wolfbox G900 Pro install took longer than expected, but the final result is amazing. The screen is huge, the camera quality is crisp, and now we can actually see what is behind us while towing.

If you tow a truck camper, cargo trailer, RV, travel trailer, overland trailer, or any setup where rear visibility is a problem, this might be one of the best towing upgrades you can make.
