Addressing Environmental Risk Factors for Prevention & Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs)

Sustainable Development Goals 3.4/3.9 aim at reducing death and illnesses from noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), including exposures to hazardous chemicals, air, water and soil pollution. NCDs such as cardiovascular diseases, respiratory conditions, cancers, and diabetes are leading causes of morbidity and mortality. While lifestyle factors are often emphasized, environmental risk factors play a critical role in the prevalence and severity of NCDs.

This side event will showcase the role of science and evidence-based solutions to prevent NCDs.
