Rematch just beat FC 26 to Sports Game of the Year… and I did NOT see that coming.

On this channel I talk a lot about FC 26 Career Mode, EA Sports FC, and the wider football gaming landscape — but today we’re discussing the biggest surprise in sports gaming: Rematch winning Sports Game of the Year over EA Sports FC 26.

How did a fast-paced, arcade-style 3v3/4v4/5v5 football game — developed by Sloclap — outperform one of the biggest sports franchises in gaming history?

For years, EA dominated awards with the old FIFA titles. But this time, innovation beat tradition. Rematch didn’t try to copy Ultimate Team. It didn’t try to out-license EA. It delivered something fresh.

As someone who primarily covers FC 26 Career Mode, I still prefer realistic football simulation — but objectively, Rematch deserves respect for shaking up the football gaming space.

Is this just hype around something new?
Or is this a sign that football games NEED innovation?
