Working with Quixel Bridge and UE 4 in 2019. Tutorial for beginners.

Full details on how to use Quixel Bridge and Unreal Engine 4 in your work in 2019.

In this part we will talk about how to:

- import materials and create Blend Material from them
- paint with different materials on the surface
- import 3D asset to UE4
- import vegetation and paint with it on the surface
- add the effect of wind on grass
- turn on Raytracing and configure basic lighting in UE4 by using the HDRi Backdrop plugin
- install Megascans plugin in UE 4.23
The only important point I want to recall is that the material applied to a landscape is unique in its structure. No matter how many different materials we wish to apply on the landscape; each must be connected together via LandscapeLayerBlend node before being inserted as an input to the Material node.

So, why the Blended Material formed by Quixel Livelink cannot be applied to a Landscape?

The answer is simple! The blended material formed inherits material setup from its Parent, which in case of Blended Materials is SurfaceBlend_MasterMaterial. That Master material was not developed for use on landscapes in mind, at least not directly. It is obvious if you take a look at its graph, there is no LandscapeLayerBlend or a landscape material setup as shown above. This is the very reason the Landscape Paint Tool did not recognize the material when you inserted it in the Material slot of the landscape.
