Japanese Garden at Delaware Park - Buffalo, New York (4K) (HD)

Kon'nichiwa and welcome. The pitter-patter of morning rain is gentle, yet industrious as it drums against the shield of umbrellas and breathes vibrant life into this majestic garden. In springtime, this place is an Eden of Sakura, abundant with blossoming cherry trees. In winter, a postcard scene of snow-capped treetops, the lake a sheath of ice. Today, we recall a moment stumbled upon at the height of summertime. Every corner is lush, teeming with verdant life and overgrown with natural prosperity. As we descend, step by step, into the heart of the garden, we pass beneath a Torii of ceremonious welcome. A gate of spiritual implications, a Torii is most commonly found at the entrance of a Shinto shrine, symbolizing the passage from the mundane into the sacred. Here, we experience a similar feeling of transition. We are leaving the everyday bustle behind and entering into a place of spiritual renewal, of discovery, of, dare we say…Magic.

We who stumble upon this place are whisked away to a place where tranquility drowns out the noise of the expressway beyond. In fact, we forget that we are here, in the heart of a modern city in the middle of, not Japan, but New York. We are transported, all but forgetting the agendas and obligations awaiting our attentions. With every raindrop and birdsong, every rustle of Japanese maple leaves along the stone path, we are reminded that we are Here. There is Magic to be found in the middle of the most unexpected places, and we are the lucky ones who have found the secret garden. What a joy!
