Donald Trump could ditch his 2024 presidential run
Donald Trump could potentially not run for office in 2024 for fear of being a “two-time loser,” says former US Ambassador Joe Hockey.
Mr Hockey, who presided over an often-contentious time in US-Australia relations, said his “instinct” was that the former president wouldn’t run.
“Because if there’s enough reason for him to be worried about winning, the worst thing in his mind he could ever be is a two-time loser,” Mr Hockey told Sky News Australia.
“Having said that, if the environment is such that the Democrats haven’t got a credible candidate and at the moment, they haven’t.
“And the thing is, Donald Trump controls the Republican Party … so if he wants the nomination, in the current environment, he will get it.”
