Growing up in Pennsylvania, I've heard many superstitions, and I've always found them really cool. The US has tons of them, like find a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck, so as I've lived in England for nearly a decade, I thought it would be fun to look at popular British superstitions, some of them I've heard before and others not at all. 
Did you know that more than 70% of people say they're superstitious, and whether you believe in it or not, most people find themselves throwing salt over their shoulder if they spill it, just in case it would bring them bad luck.
Researchers think that people start acknowledging these behaviours when they have no control over a particular situation because it makes them feel better like they're doing something to potentially help their situation. It's worth noting these beliefs are often irrational and based on the supernatural, and considered to bring a person good or bad luck.
