Candlelight
This clip features the earliest existing recording of me playing music.
The beautiful song "Candlelight" was written by my lifelong friend Roderick Morgan (aka Old Man Crow) who passed away early 2022.
His partner Mo recently sent me a cassette Roderick had kept all these years - and on it I discovered this wonderful relic of our youth together. (I had to buy an old vintage Sony cassette deck through eBay to find out what was on it. What a surprise!)
The lead vocal is sung by my late wife Cammie Lindon, who died on June 21st 1999 in Sydney at the age of 42, after a four-year long battle with cancer.
The track was recorded circa 1971 when I was still at Sydney Uni, with Roderick and myself playing acoustic guitars, and in the closing section we all sing together in the style that we performed together around Sydney back in those days. I was so excited then to be first discovering the joys of singing in harmony.
The other guy on the photos is another dear departed talented friend Chris Clark who we all played music with back in those days.
I miss each of them deeply and cherish the memories.
Thank you Mo for this wonderful gift.
