Waste Oil Stump Burner

We had a line of maples that didn't survive the winter too well and needed to go. This left a line of very stubborn stumps. Fortunately, we also had a broken washing machine, a bucket, an electric radiator fan, a bucket of used tranny fluid, and the handyman's secret weapon, duct tape.

This is a very basic setup and is less a waste oil burner and more a thing that piddles waste oil into a wood fire. It worked pretty well for what we needed, but I hope to refine it at some point to run a metal forge. There's plenty of tranny fluid left in that bucket.

Also, that whoosh when the oil came on was kind of addictive.

Obviously don't try this if you don't know what you're doing, don't touch things that are hot enough to glow, and don't be the guy who starts the Dumbass Complex fire. Keep a hose handy. I watered everything down periodically to keep the lawn from catching fire.
