Rainbow Islands - ZX Spectrum

I regularly play the #ZXSpectrum version of Rainbow Islands on the train on the way to work in the morning. I usually play it on my #Nintendo DS using the ZXDS emulator. It's a perfect fit for this game.

This morning I decided to play it on my laptop and record it so you can see what a delight this game is on the #Speccy!

If you've never seen it before (where have you been?!) the idea is to get to the top of the level before it floods. You can collect various power ups along the way such as:

Shoes 👉 Make you run faster
Red Potion 👉 Adds an extra rainbow 'bow', to a maximum of three
Yellow Potion 👉 Speeds up your rainbow throwing ability
Diamonds 👉 Collect all the colours to gain an extra life. Collect them in colour order, left to right, for a special bonus! 😉

It's a wonderful little game with colourful graphics and a jaunty musical rendition of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow'. It can also be quite brutal - check out my attempt at beating the end of level 1 baddie! 😂
