NASAs Ranger 9 Mission sucessfully crashed the probe into the moon while it was sending back high quality pictures until the very last moment before impact. This mission from 1965 gave us first high quality pictures of the surface of the earths natural satellite. The very last transmitted photo had a resolution of about 1x1 foot or 0,3x0,3 centimeters.
Back then this live images where trasmitted on TV where the whole world was stunned of mankids newest achievments.
After the unmanned Ranger Missions the Appollo Missions continued to write history and send the first men on the moon.
