Both are fantastic metal detectors for gold nuggets in all kinds of soils. The Garrett is more affordable of course. The Minelab, not so much at $3750 - yikes. The Minelab gets the smaller gold, at smallest around .035 grams and the ATX smallest at around .08 grams...
