Don't Buy Seeds. Grow Herbs From Spices!

Grow vegetables and herbs from spices purchased at balk stores. Do not buy expensive seeds. Save a lot of money.
I want to tell you such a thing that if you want and love to grow herbs in your garden for seasoning, then it is not necessary to buy seeds from specialized stores or garden centres. Greens and not only greens, / it is quite possible to grow from the spices themselves, you just need to purchase whole seeds of your favorite spices. And I went to a bulk food store where spices is sold by weight, and I bought seeds of several different types of spices. And it turns out all this is tens of times cheaper than in bags with seeds. For example, this $ 4.25 bag of coriander seeds I purchased weighing about 10 grams can be compared to this bag of 200 grams coriander seed spices for which I paid only $ 1.75. Almost forty times cheaper. You might even say that the seeds of herbs in a bulk store store may be of poor quality and will not grow or may have been processed in some way. On the contrary, they are usually not processed by anything, they can be old or expired to grow, but natural. So I decided to plant several different spice seeds for the experiment. I will plant a pinch of dill, coriander, fennel, caraway seeds and cumin, hot red chili peppers, anise seeds, mustard in different pots.
It's the end of February now, I just want to conduct a simple experiment. Please note that the day is still quite short outside and I just place these pots with planted seeds on the windowsill, where it is not very warm just about 15 degrees and they will be grown under normal, on most days, cloudy poor lighting from the street. I will not use additional heating or additional lighting, for the purity of the experiment. The very first mustard sprouted literally the first shoots appeared three days later, then dill sprouted in unison. Weak but with almost one hundred percent germination. This makes me very happy because a very small bag of dill seeds in the store costs $2.99. Now I can sow it everywhere in the garden. And I paid only $2 for this whole package weighing almost 140 grams. Somewhere 10 days were spent on the shoots of caraway seeds, fennel and coriander, and about 15 days were spent on the shoots of hot pepper. Caraway and cumin loves good lighting and therefore the seedlings look weak and elongated. Of course, the germination rate is not one hundred percent, but it makes me happy that they sprout, and if you create better conditions, then I hope the germination rate will be better. But since I do this only for the sake of experiment and given the growing conditions, this is not a bad indicator at all. It only means that if when it gets warmer on the street I sow them, then I can get a good, better result. The hot pepper sprouted surprisingly well, and sometimes even packet of pepper seeds from garden centre do not work out well like that. In general, the pepper usually grows slowly, much slower than other seedlings, so I always plant it before everyone else, so that I will get good seedlings by May. I even tried to plant store beans and in 5 days they are already sprouting. The only thing that didn’t come out for me was anise. I admit that there may be either old seeds or the seeds need stratification. However, the experiment was a success now I know how to save money on green seeds and not only.
