The day has come! Finally lighting the big brush pile. Just one for today, so we can make sure we keep things focused. We have all the watering system in place and tested.

Good practice for burning big piles like this:
Fire suppresion (water) on hand.
Burn shortly after you've had big rain which greens the grass and soaks the ground litter.
Minimal wind, check the hourly forecast for at least the next 4-5 hrs until the big flames will be down.
Notify local authorities and neighbors to avoid false alarms.

Winds were calm in the morning, but even later in the day when I showed the trees waving, there is a good wind barrier so the flames were unaffected. We had plenty of water as you see, and I made my notifications prior to lighting.
