Deep Gauge Cluster Scratch Removal DIY

Successful attempt at removing deep scratches from a gauge cluster using only toothpaste and elbow grease. Really happy with the way it turned out!
The cluster on my Dodge Durango RT was heavily damaged by the previous owner, deep scratches running across the entire cluster as well as a huge amount of light scratches and deep etching.
I wanted to try this DIY method before i went out and spent some money on plastic polishers and more labor intensive solutions. I applied light pressure and polished in a circular motion using soft, clean automotive towels. Microfiber cloths will probably work even better! I just used what i had handy. I recommend doing small sections at a time and make sure you completely wipe off and clean between spots. Use a interior cleaning spray like Chemical Guys interior cleaner or even just water. Do not make the solution runny or watery as this can travel in between the small gaps in your trim and can potentially cause even more damage. Step by step guide bellow
1) If available use a can of compressed air to blow off any dust or debris that may further scratch the plastic before starting the process.
2) Use plastic safe cleaner and a new, clean cloth to prep the work area. Clean around the gauge cluster as well.
3) Spot test a small area to make sure your cluster doesn't react with the toothpaste. ( I used Colgate original white paste mixed 50/50 with Colgate Baking soda and Peroxide infused paste)
4) Apply toothpaste to a new clean cloth, mist it lightly with your preferred plastic cleaning solution or water and work the paste in a 2-3in area using a circular motion. apply light pressure.
5) Use a new cloth, mist it with water/solution and remove all toothpaste from work area. Repeat step 4 3-5 times or as many needed to achieve desired results.
